THRIVE Lifeline has received a grant for our RECRUIT internship program!
|
|
THRIVE Lifeline recently received a grant which, along with anonymous donor contributions, will allow THRIVE to provide the following paid opportunities for the RECRUIT Internship during August 2023 - August 2024:
- 1 Internship Coordinator
- 5 RECRUIT Interns
- 5 RECRUIT Mentors
- 2 Certified Suicide Intervention Facilitators

RECRUIT internships are designed by and for multiply marginalized students who have struggled to gain internships due to identity, juggling school and jobs, transportation, living in rural areas, caregiving, or any other barrier.
Since the RECRUIT internship program began in Fall 2020, we have provided training, applied skills development, and 1:1 mentorship to 20 volunteer-based interns. We're so grateful and excited to provide these paid opportunities in the upcoming year!

What has being a RECRUIT meant to you?
Eun (they/them): "The RECRUIT internship is important to me as a psychology major in college and as an opportunity to help others in ways I searched for and failed to find in my own times of need in the past."

Why did you choose the RECRUIT internship?
Leslie (she/her): "I applied to the RECRUIT internship because I really resonated with THRIVE Lifeline’s cause. As a POC and a member of the LGBTQ+ community, it is imperative to address the struggles that others in our community are facing and to give them a safe space. Mental health advocacy is also something that I highly value, and I really liked that THRIVE Lifeline prioritizes the mental health of texters and their crisis responders."

What would you tell potential RECRUIT applicants?
Morgan (she/her): "It allows one to grow as an individual, learn to view diverse challenges and obstacles in a unique way, and most of all, you will create valuable and lasting connections with the other wonderful members of THRIVE."

What is your biggest takeaway as a RECRUIT?
Quinn (he/him): "Being LGBTQ+ and a college student in the midst of COVID-19 has been a very isolating experience. But my internship at THRIVE has shown me that we are never truly alone in this world. I cannot understate the amount of support that I have gotten since I started my internship. I have felt supported at every step of the way. My mentor has been a truly inspirational figure in my life and I'm so grateful for the other leaders at THRIVE who have guided me through tough moments. It's really rewarding to know that you're molding a space where others don't have to fight as hard to stay alive and feel respected."

Apply for our RECRUIT internship program today!
We will:
- Meet you where you are as a student who experiences marginalization
- Empower you and give you undeniable professional experience
- Equip you with the skills to directly impact the lives of others who may share your intersecting identities and experiences.
Applications close on May 26, 2023 and will be reviewed on a rolling basis. The internship will run from August 20, 2023 to August 17, 2024, with a total stipend of $4500. On average, RECRUITs can expect to work approximately 6 hours per week for 50 weeks.
Whatever your experience level, we welcome you and are honored to grow alongside you.

Not an undergrad student looking for an internship, but still want to join our team? We are always looking for volunteers! We have a variety of different positions, depending on your interests and goals
- Crisis responder
- Training assistant
- Social media team member or coordinator
- Outreach / recruitment
- Fundraising / donor relations
We're so grateful for any time you are able to give. We'll provide training, mentorship, and a supportive community to learn and grow within.
